SHERIDAN — According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 8.5% of Sheridan County's population is at the federal poverty level. When you're at the poverty level, you're forced to make difficult decisions, and sometimes health care — especially holistic health care that meets physical, mental and dental needs —   is out of reach, according to David Mark, CEO of the One Health community health centers based in Hardin, Montana. That's where organizations like One Health come into play, Mark said. "Community health centers are safety net providers caring for those who are not being cared for," Mark said. While the community health center concept dates back to President Lyndon B. Johnson's War on

10 Best OTC Allergy Medicines Of 2021, According To Doctors - Women's Health

Image
Allergy season has a sucky way of happening at the exact same time you want to be outside 24/7. So, when spring and fall come, you're left dealing with a bunch of unpleasant symptoms that can make you want to ride out the rest of the season in an allergen-free bubble. Unfortunately, that's not really an option. What you can do is stock up on over-the-counter allergy medicines to get relief from your stuffy nose and watery eyes. But…have you seen all the options out there lately? The good news is that there are plenty of meds to choose from. The bad? That makes it hard to even know where to start. Sure, you can just pick a random option and hope it does the trick, but that can end up costing you time and money—two things you don't exactly have a lot of when you want to feel better ASAP. FWIW, OTC allergy medicines are "very effective" and "as effective as most prescription medicines," says Evan Li, MD, assistant professor of medicine, immunology, allergy

Best Drugs for Constipation - ConsumerReports.org

Image
If you're still backed up a week after being on OTC laxatives, talk with your healthcare provider, Lacy says. Your doctor may be able to determine an underlying cause for your symptoms. For example, medical conditions such as diabetes or an underactive thyroid can cause constipation, as can many common medications, including certain antacids, antidepressants, antihistamines, blood pressure drugs, pain relievers, and drugs for urinary incontinence.  Your doctor can also advise you on doses and timing of OTC products to get better results. If none of those approaches work, it's time to consider a prescription solution. But don't expect a miracle. Prescription drugs to treat constipation are relative newcomers to the market. Since 2017 the FDA has approved plecanatide (Trulance), tenapanor (Ibsrela), prucalopride (Motegrity), and lactitol (Pizensy) as well as naldemedine (Symproic) for opioid-induced constipation.  In addition, prescription drugs cost m

Covid-19 vaccine boosters could mean billions for drugmakers - ETHealthworld.com

Image
Billions more in profits are at stake for some vaccine makers as the US moves toward dispensing Covid-19 booster shots to shore up Americans' protection against the virus. How much the manufacturers stand to gain depends on how big the rollout proves to be. The Biden administration last month announced plans to give boosters to nearly everybody. But US regulators have rejected the across-the-board approach and instead said third shots of Pfizer's vaccine should go to people who are 65 and older and certain others at high risk from Covid-19. Still, the crisis is constantly evolving, and some top U.S. health officials expect boosters will be more broadly authorized in the coming weeks or months. And that, plus continued growth in initial vaccinations, could mean a huge gain in sales and profits for Pfizer and Moderna in particular. "The opportunity quite frankly is reflective of the billions of people around the world who would need a vaccination and a boost," Jefferies
