HARTZ Search Taps President for Acclaim Physician Group - Hunt Scanlon Media
July 29, 2021 – Charlotte, NC-based HARTZ Search has assisted in the placement of Bryan Becker as the new president for Acclaim Physician Group, a partner of JPS Health Network. CEO Mike Hartz and partner Carol Maxwell led the assignment. Acclaim is a multi-specialty, 480-provider medical group that partners with JPS Health Network to provide healthcare, education and research to Tarrant County and Fort Worth, TX.
Dr. Becker was previously chief medical officer and vice president, integrated care, and member of the office of the chief medical officer for Davita Inc. DaVita Inc. is a Fortune 500 company that cares for patients with kidney disease across the U.S. and in 10 countries outside of the U.S. Dr. Becker provided clinical and shared administrative oversight for outcomes, quality, safety, care management and total cost of care performance in DaVita's risk-based reimbursement models and value-based payer contracts supporting care for patients across the country. He was with DaVita since 2016.
Deep Experience
Dr. Becker's career spans academic medical centers, community safety-net hospitals, ambulatory networks, health plans and community clinics: He was president of the University of Chicago Care Network, a clinically integrated organization with over 1,500 physicians and an employer group health plan with more than 12,000 members. Before that, he was CEO of University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics, a safety-net hospital with 32 ambulatory clinics and a physician practice plan. He has also served as vice-chair, physician-in-chief for the University of Wisconsin Department of Medicine, with responsibility for the clinical enterprise in a large academic department across community and academic settings with two large hospitals and 32 clinics.
Dr. Becker earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, a medical doctor degree in medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and a master's degree in medical management from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. In 2014, Dr. Becker earned his certification as a physician executive by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management.
JPS Health Network is a $950 million, tax-supported health care system for Tarrant County in North Texas. The network is anchored by John Peter Smith Hospital, a 578-bed acute care in Fort Worth. JPS has the only Level 1 trauma center in Tarrant County and the county's only psychiatric emergency services site. JPS is also a certified chest pain center, certified primary stroke center and an accredited American College of Surgery cancer center. JPS has a Level lll neonatal intensive care center (NICU). The health network was named the best hospital in the U.S. in 2020, according to a new hospital evaluating system unveiled by Washington Monthly Magazine. Ranking near the top of every category, it out-scored the most prestigious healthcare organizations in America.

A Key Diversity Placement
Last month, HARTZ Search assisted in the placement of Michael Moxley as vice president/chief diversity, inclusion, and health equity officer for Roper St. Francis Healthcare (RSFH) in Charleston, SC. RSFH, a joint venture between Bon Secours Mercy Health and the Medical Society of South Carolina, is a four-hospital integrated health system with over 671-licensed beds and $1 billion in net revenue and 5,000 employees.
Dr. Moxley's selection came from a competitive group of finalists and DE&I leaders presented through a broad national search.
Dr. Moxley joined Roper St. Francis from Virginia Hospital Center (VHC) in Arlington, VA, an independent health system with a teaching hospital that has 394 licensed beds. In his new role, he is responsible for partnering with Roper St. Francis' boards, leaders, physicians, teammates, patients, and the community to provide leadership in developing and implementing strategic initiatives that embrace and support the various backgrounds and cultures that make up the Charleston community.
