‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ adds a doctor: ‘I make women pretty for a living’ - OCRegister

Ask Dr. Jen Armstrong how she met the women of "The Real Housewives of Orange County," the reality show which she'll join this season, and she needs some clarification: personal or professional? "I've known Braunwyn for quite a long time; our kids went to preschool together," she says of Braunwyn Windham-Burke, who left the show before the 16th season, which premieres on Bravo on Wednesday, Dec. 1. "But I was just in contact with so many women through my practice, aesthetic medicine," Armstrong says of the medical field also known as cosmetic dermatology. "I make women pretty for a living. "So I think that's how it all came about, like, I have treated a lot of the housewives. A lot of the cast members, current and past, have been patients of mine." Dr. Jen Armstrong is one of two new cast members on "The Real Housewives of Orange County," which begins its 16th season on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021. (Photo by Tommy Ga

COVID-19 outbreaks in Colorado continue to pop up at a worrisome pace, and one of more than 100 new sites identified over the most recent seven-day period for which statistics are available is the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment — the very agency that tracks the data. Nine CDPHE staffers have confirmed cases of the disease. Prior to June 1, state health officials declared an outbreak if two or more COVID-19 cases among residents, staffers, attendees and others were tied to a particular setting within a fourteen-day period. Now this standard only applies to health-care or correctional facilities. An outbreak anywhere else requires at least five confirmed or probable cases over two weeks. The 113 new or tweaked entries on the CDPHE's latest survey, dated November 24, represent a small decline from the 124 added on November 17. However, then only 724 outbreaks were under active investigation; now there are 770. Of the freshly listed outbreaks, fifty, or

Roman Donar/EyeEm/Getty Images As many as 3 in 10 people who have total knee placement surgery still have pain months after the procedure. Researchers say a post-surgery treatment known as C-RFA may help relieve some discomfort. The treatment involves inserting a needle around the knee that targets specific nerve locations. The treatment is usually done after other recovery therapies haven't worked. People who experience chronic pain after total knee replacement surgery may benefit from a new treatment. During a presentation at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, researchers said a rarely used procedure called cooled radiofrequency ablation (C-RFA) offers hope for these knee replacement recipients. Researchers said C-RFA pain relief lasts longer than cortisone shots and is a less invasive, less expensive alternati

Your Covid booster side effects shouldn't be as 'intense' this time — here's what to expect - CNBC

Image
If you're thinking about getting a Covid booster shot, you're probably wondering about its side effects. Don't worry: Compared with your last dose, your booster shot should be a much smoother experience, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "People had fewer reactions after their third dose than after their second dose," CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said in a White House briefing Tuesday. Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and CDC gave all adults the green light to get a booster shot six months after their second dose of an mRNA vaccine, or two months after getting Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine. If you felt side effects from your last vaccine dose, you'll likely feel similar ones after your booster — but in less severe ways. The CDC describes typical Covid booster side effects as "mild to moderate," compared to the "intense" ones that often follow a second dose. That's large
