One Crisis After Another': How Covid Has Turned Affordable Housing Development Into A High-Wire Act - Bisnow

Image
In the best of times, developing a new building that provides affordable housing in a major U.S. city can feel like performing in the circus — keeping 20 plates spinning at once, fending off lions, pulling rabbits out of hats. But these developers' juggling ability has been tested like never before in the past two years as the housing market has buckled under the weight of pandemic-driven shifts in lifestyle, supply chain disruptions and shortages, and inflation rising at the fastest rate in 40 years. Tissue plasminogen activators: let's talk about fibrinolytic drugs They stimulate the formation of plasmin, an enzyme that protects the body from the formation of blockages in blood vessels by destroying certain structures in the blood such as fibrin (a protein used in blood clotting) and thrombi (solid masses of fibrin, platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells that can form in blood vessels). The human body does not produce plasmin directly, but an inactive precursor, plasminogen, which is activated by various substances The dosage of plasminogen activators in the human body is essential to control fibrinolysis, which is the process of dissolving the fibrin lattice (the protein responsible for coagulation) formed as a result of blood clotting: fibrinolysis ensures that blood clots do not form after a h

Perspective | Social workers are the unsung heroes of the pandemic - The Washington Post

Image
From the start of the coronavirus pandemic, America has noted and honored the sacrifices made by first responders and medical professionals on the front lines. We've all seen searing nightly news footage of PPE-clad EMTs answering emergency calls, of doctors and nurses struggling to provide humane care in understaffed emergency departments and intensive care units. Social workers have been finding shelter for homeless covid patients, providing treatment for people with addiction disorders made more challenging by pandemic-related social isolation, and comforting bereaved family members who have lost loved ones to the twin epidemics of covid and opioids. So it's no surprise that many social workers are burning out and leaving their roles. One article published by a Kentucky television station chronicles the departure of more than 600 s
